Guidelines for HTS, eCtune, BMTune

Connection Requirement: To use the Hondash app with HTS, eCtune, or BMTune, you must install an internal Bluetooth module. The modified code on these ECUs does not support data transmission via the factory diagnostic connector.

Technical Protocol Mismatch:

  • Factory Standard: The Honda 3-pin diagnostic connector uses 1 wire for half-duplex communication.
  • Modified Protocol: HTS, eCtune, and BMTune utilize full-duplex communication. This protocol would require a 4-pin connector (which does not exist on the vehicle), making an internal Bluetooth module the only way to establish a connection.

System Instability: Due to this communication type mismatch, using a Hondash scanner will cause an ECU buffer overflow. This triggers an ECU reset, resulting in engine stalling and "ECU is not responding" errors. Resolution would require developers to re-implement the original Honda 9600 BAUD half-duplex method.

Hardware & Support:

  • No Scanner Support: No future Hondash scanner revision will support these ECUs as they bypass the diagnostic port entirely.
  • User Procurement: We do not provide installation services or hardware for these applications. Users must source their own third-party Bluetooth kits via hondatuningsuite.com or tuning experts.
